GI Jane

Regan has been getting so strong now....after being excellent at her tummy time she has started to push forward and do an army crawl....if we are lucky, she will crawl like Ian did at 6 months...even with a cast on his little broken leg. It was almost worth it when Newt Gingrich signed it.

Pay Care

The past five months after the birth of Reagan have been trying on our family and I have been in so much pain it has been difficult to take cake of Ian. After many trips to the ER....various Dr appointments and hrs of physical therapy my ability to care and entertain Ian and Reagan became increasingly difficult. We had just moved into a new ward and knew no families that he could play with yet. On top of that, I was told that I should not drive more then 10 minutes a time which meant that I could not drive up to Golden Valley to hang out with people we already knew and Ian was becoming a little stinker with out getting the atttention and activity that he needed every day. After a week, our Relief society leader told us about a lady in our ward who did day care....she lived about 5 minutes away and she was w/in our budget. It was an answer to our prayers. For about a week Ian would cry every day he went....it was heartbreaking. But now after about 2 weeks of going he is adjusting ok. His last week is this week. My Physical Therapist says by March, I should be back to normal....until then....kepp mein your prayers.

Blessings

On the Sunday before it was our last at the Crystal ward, Tyler gave a beautiful blessing to our daughter Reagan. Shortly after the blessing Tyler then raised Reagan up in her blessing outfit....much like Mufasa did with Pumba when he was first born. Then he is swiftly pulled aside and asked to confirm 2 recently baptised gals...a mother and a daughter and finally....he gives the talk he was asked to give. Before the talk begins, our bishop jokes that today is the "Tyler Shaw Show". And it was indeed.

P P in the Po-T

I could not believe how easy it was after all the heartache filled stories of terrible messes that kids have left all over the house like un housebroken pups. It was Thursday morning and Ian asks me as we are watching a morning of Curious George that he wants to go pee pee in the potty. I took a double take and realized from his dead pan face he was very serious.
I got up and 75% expected that this would be a disaster. He climbed on top of the potty and let it rip....the pee that is. He did this all day asking and then successfully peeing on the potty.
After each success, we did a high five and I would comment on what a big boy he was at 2 and a half yrs old. We called his grandma Shaw that night who also shared in the enthusiasm. She was so impressed in fact that she offered to buy his some big boy underwear. Since Ian is a Super Hero fanatic, his underwear shared that theme. Pooping is the next hurdle now. He asks for Diapers to poop in so we will see how long it takes till his logs appear in the potty.
Sorry to gross you out...I'm just saying.

Got it sold!

We did it after one sale falling through 72 showings 4 open houses and 8 months on the market... we sold our house and bought the one we wanted for 20K less and at a 4% interest rate. Cannot complain. Tyler is taking another job at Best Buy and we will be 5 minutes away from his mom and dads as well as our new ward in Lakeville. We will miss our ward in Crystal very much however. Our ward is so small that we really have gotten to be a tight family. People we will miss most are Ron and Nyla Richins, Jenn and Jesse Hawes Nicki and Scott Hawes as well as Deb Vevea, Wendy Sessions, Debbie Mathias, Thw Wilde family, The Lesuere Family, The Lunas, the Fuluvakas and all the girls in Young Womens. The past 5 yrs here have been amazing...Tyler joined the church due to the the amazing spirit he felt in Liz Randalls Gospel Doctrine class a yr later we went to the temple and were sealed to Ian and the 2 yrs later welcomed little Reagan.

I say a little prayer for you...

Dinner time is prayer time and we really have a lot to be thankful for lately...
A healthy baby girl, a very sweet toddler who loves his sister Tyler's great job at best buy and a couple of new opportunities that are on the horizon and many more conservatives to be elected this November. When we pray at dinner, Ian who now has started to fold his arms is very enthusiastic o what to be thankful for. First and foremost he prays for #1...himself and then the list continues with Reagan, Mamma, Dadda, Boowie, Pupps, Barkley, Jen, Jesse, Hailey Audrey, Damien Preston, the list continues with more abstract things like, "Batman pictures, pants, batman web toys. WE laugh usually at the things that he thinks to include but one night we were surprised to hear him shout, "God" I opened my eyes when he said this...and looked at Tyler as if to say did he really just say that? Tyler who also had his eyes open gave me the same look back.
Each night Tyler reads to him from the Book of Mormon and maybe somehow...he made the connection to pray for God.

Better than chocolate

I must admit, as sweet as Ian has been with other little babies leading up to the days of Reagan's birth, I was very nervous about the first time they met. Would be be mad, jealous, indifferent and dare I say excited to see her. They day Ian met Reagan was a memorable one. He mosied into the room chewing on gum he charmed out of his grandmother every stride speaking of how he owned the place. Then seeing me in the bed he turns to something his daddy is holding in his arms.
"Ian, this is your baby sister," Tyler explains as he walks towards Ian holding the new bundle.
Ian seemed curious but still unimpressed. Tyler explains again, now right next to Ian, "you are a big brother...this is your baby sister Reagan.
Something tipped his mood then and he went to unimpressed to somewhat threatened and then annoyed by this new being.
Lisa, Ians grandma raises her voice another 10 octaves in an attempt to get Ian excited and reexplains what Tyler just said. Ian then immediately starts to say no to every question he is getting asked. He then is asks if he wants to hold her and again, he answers "NO"!
They visit then for another 30 minutes or so and Ian takes this time to spread his Spiderman pictures and toys all over the floor.
As they leave to get Reagan back to the nursery and let me rest, Ian asks.
"Let's get a different one, I want another one."
AS they leave I start to worry....crap, he is not going to like this new gal around, we are in for it.
The next day however is a different story. Ian and Tyler come in and Ian set up his stuff on the floor. Distracted, I begin to talk to Tyler about the day and Ian comes over to my food tray and finds the bar of chocolate that Tyler gave me the day before. He opens it up and begins to eat it but not before it melts all over his hands and face.
However when Daddy brings in the baby this time, Ian's attitude has changed.
With a mug and mitts covered in chocolate, he drops the bar asks to hold his sister. Smiling and cooing he sits on the sofa and holds little Reagan for the first time.
The next 2 days he enters the room not asking for gum or chocolate but to see his
"Baby titter Reagan"

Don't tread on me

One morning at 6am when I was thinking of how to entertain Ian while fighting off exhaustion for being woken up so early....I decided to print coloring pages for Ian of Batman and Spiderman.
We did some coloring that morning but after only working on a few pages, Ian stops the coloring and gets all possessive as I try to bring a red crayon to a picture of Spiderman.
"Mommy don't" Ian scolds.
Next thing I know he is picking up his pictures to keep me away from them.
Later that day Ian spreads the pictures around him and when he wants to get away to play with other toys, he gingerly wants around them as not to disturb them. He also keeps the pile together and bring it with him when we go anyway. He takes it to the grocerie store, the pool, when visiting friends or school. Once he arrives anywhere, he likes to spread them out around him or line then up to admire them. In the car while he holds them if I take a sharp turn ans the pics get shoveled, he will yell, "Stop it Mommy....my pictures!"

Ian's Second Birthday

It has been almost 6 months since Ian's birthday and a lot has happened in that time frame. Our house is on the market....we sold it and then our buyers....buyer....buyer fell through so we went back on the market and with little time to spare since I am having a baby girl on Aug 3rd. We are naming her Reagan Klien and Can't wait to meet her though I am nervous about heving a C-section and the whole recovery thing. Becca is getting married on July 31st and I am doing her cake. The next few weeks have been hectic as we redo our basement and we get ready for Reagan to come home. Ian is getting the Idea that there is a reason my tummy keeps getting bigger but I still feel that bringing the baby home will be a shock.
